Diane R. Zobus, 75, of Margate, Florida passed away on Wednesday evening, May 7, 2014 at her home in Margate, Florida. She was born on Sunday, July 24, 1938, in Streator, Illinois and was the daughter and only child of Thomas Rithchie and Dorothy Cully. Diane attended Streator High School in Streator, Illinois, and then graduated from Illinois College in Jacksonville, Illinois where she met Bill. They married on August 11th, 1962. Diane enjoyed her many plants and flowers and had a great appreciation for the beauty of butterflies. While Diane grew up and raised a family of her own in Streator, she also greatly enjoyed retirement in Florida. Whether in Streator or Margate, she was involved in numerous organizations and events. But with or without an organization, Diane was known for helping those around her who needed it. That and her "what you see is what you get" approach to presenting herself will be greatly missed. Diane was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by: her beloved husband: William J. "Bill" Zobus of Margate, FL, dear sons: Thomas W. Zobus of Jacksonville, IL, and, Richard J. Zobus and daughter-in-law Stefanie Moy-Zobus of Sherman, IL, and two cherished granddaughters, Katie and Tori Zobus. Diane and Bill were also host parents to close to a dozen foreign exchange students from countries in Europe and South America, many of whom considered her a second mother, and whose children came to think of her as a grandmother. A memorial service will be celebrated at Savino-Weissman Funeral Home in Margate Florida at 4:00 P.M. on Thursday, May 15, 2014. In lieu of flowers, donations are being accepted for The Diane Ritchie Zobus Omnibus Foundation. Checks can be made out to the Pompano Beach-Lighthouse Rotary and mailed to 1505 E. River Drive Margate, Florida 33063. The foundation will continue her way of helping those who need it.
