Cristina (Mamola) Abbate, 83 of Coconut Creek, FL.  Originally from Brick, NJ.  She is survived by her husband, Giuseppe, her children Tino, along with his wife Barbara-Ann, Franco, and Rita, along with her husband Jack.  She is survived by two grandchildren, Annie, along with her husband Dave, and Christian.

Cristina was born on September 20th 1936 to Francesco and Domenica Mamola in Palermo, Sicily.  She was one of seven children.  She married Giuseppe Abbate and they had just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in April 2020. A homemaker who was a seamstress by trade, a devout Catholic, and an excellent cook.  She loved the Miami Heat and enjoyed watching her grandchildren play sports.  Spending time with family was paramount for her as she was the matriarch of the family. Cristina was a parishioner and an usher for 23 years at Our Lady of Lourdes in Boca Ratón.  She was loved by many and had a wonderful sense of humor.  She always welcomed everyone into her home with a smile and a delicious meal.

The viewing will be held from 4-7pm, with a blessing at 6pm, on Tuesday May 26th at Coral Springs Funeral Home: 1420 N University Drive Coral Springs, FL 33071.  Due to social distancing polices, masks must worn for entry and up to 40 people may gather at one time.  There will be no funeral mass due to the pandemic.  Burial will occur on Wednesday May 27th and take place at 11am at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Cemetery: 1500 State Road 7, North Lauderdale, FL 33068.  Due to social distancing polices, only the immediate family can attend. However, we encourage family and friends to follow in a caravan to honor Cristina but must remain in their vehicles.  Your presence is most welcome.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made in her name to: American Heart Association, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or the Sanctuary of Santa Rosalia in Montepelligrino.
