Cono A. Mascarella, 90, of Davie, FL passed away on November 19, 2015. Born in Brooklyn, NY to Vincenzo and Philamena Mascarella on August 9, 1925, he was one of 10 children. He is survived by the love of his life, Carol; his son, James; daughters, Tammy and Carey; and grandchildren, James, Jr. and Jake. He was preceded in death by his son, Frederick.
Cooney was a crane operator and member of International Union of Operating Engineers for 35 years while living in New York. In 1980 he relocated to Coral Springs, FL before settling in Davie. Cooney continued his career as a crane operator in Florida but also tried his hand at running a small limousine service. Even at 90, Cono was a spry, fun-loving man. He was always the life of a party and knew how to make others laugh. He was very generous and willing to help others. Cono was also an avid Dolphin fan.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, November 23, 2015 from 5:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at Coral Springs Funeral Home, 1420 N. University Drive, Coral Springs, FL 33071. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at St. David Catholic Church. Cooney will be laid to rest at Lauderdale Memorial Park.
