IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Cheryl
Dikun
November 19, 1946 – November 11, 2025
❤️ In Loving Memory of Cheryl Dikun
It is with profound love and deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and Mema, Cheryl, who left this world surrounded by the family she so fiercely loved. She was, and forever will be, the Greatest Mom, Grandma, and Great-Grandma EVER.
A Foundation of Unconditional Love
Cheryl was the steady hand that guided, the soft voice that comforted, and the laughter that filled every room. She built a home where kindness was the rule, hugs were endless, and love was unconditional. Her family was her proudest achievement, and she gave herself endlessly—not because she had to, but because that was who she was. She was a strong, resilient, powerful, fierce, loving, kind woman with a pure soul, and a loyal wife to her late husband, John.
In the beginning, she lovingly cared for the home, her children, and her husband. She showed her dedication and creativity in countless ways, like the incredible Halloween costumes she crafted from scratch: from the clever Hobo's and a deck of cards (where she painstakingly sewed each card onto fabric) to the Jolly Green Giant and Johnny's favorite Underdog.
The Ultimate Supporter and Dedicated Professional
Mom's presence was a guarantee at every important event. She showed up for all of us: at softball, baseball, football, and soccer games, cheerleading competitions, wrestling matches, and swim meets. Later, she cheered on the next generations at her granddaughter Nikki's shows and her great-grandson Cody's T-ball and basketball games. She remembered every birthday, every favorite meal, and every little thing that made us feel special.
She was also the maker of the best comfort foods: the best Mac & cheese, kosher salami sandwiches, matzo ball soup, and stuffing.
When her husband, John, became ill and her children were young, Mom took on a full-time job and was still able to show up for all of us. Her dedication extended beyond her home; Cheryl was loyal not only to her family but also to her career, working for HCA hospitals for over 30 years.
A Woman of Passion and Principle
Cheryl loved to travel and shop; it was an art form to her. There were very few people she would ask to accompany her, and if you were one of the lucky ones, you would reap many benefits. She especially loved shopping for clothes and purses.
When she found something she liked, she was all in, whether it was collectibles like Painted Ponies, The California Raisins, Smurf figurines, Christmas villages, or foods like Garlic Crabs from The Rustic Inn. She knew what she liked and did not hold back.
Her wisdom came not from books, but from the way she lived—with patience, humor, and grace even in the hardest times. She was not afraid to speak her mind and would give you the truth exactly as she saw it. While some may not have been strong enough to hear her candor, those who would listen and still hold their ground found out that she appreciated other points of view and would become a strong ally. She taught us invaluable life lessons, like the one she shared during a disagreement, reminding her child, "Life is about choices, and choices have consequences."
Later in life, she became a cherished best friend. Her children fondly remember their time together, from going to Bingo on Friday or Saturday nights to spending time window shopping, browsing antique stores, and enjoying the monthly tag sale in Wilton Manors. They also shared the tradition of Black Friday shopping.
Her legacy is found in her grand gestures, and in the countless small acts of love she performed every single day. In every meal cooked, every late-night talk, every "I'm proud of you," her spirit lives on. She taught us what it means to love without limits, to give without expecting, and to live with purpose.
Though our hearts ache in her absence, we find comfort in knowing that her love remains woven into the fabric of who we are. She didn't just raise a family; she built a foundation of love that will never fade.
Rest peacefully now that you are home with John. You were, and forever will be, the greatest Mom and Mema ever!
