Dina was born in Gill, Colorado a small rural farming community in Northeastern Colorado to Joseph and Lupe Gomez. They moved all over the country but eventually came back home close to family and her beloved Grandmother Rosa Gomez.
She graduated from Gill School where she was a cheerleader all 4 years, played the flute and sang in the Choir. She took vocal lessons and sang solos in school and in church.
After high school, she moved to Denver, CO and attended Denver University for a time.
Later Dina gathered Sam, Michael, Tammy and Roger and became a single mother, working 2 or 3 jobs to support her family. She raised them close to and with her parents, who were always deeply involved their lives.
She worked for the City and County of Denver in several departments and positions until her retirement and moved to Florida.
One area that was one of her deepest passions was her faith in Christ, she was raised in the Pentecostal tradition but always had a love for all Christian traditions, Baptist, Catholic, Pentecostal. She raised her children in the Christian faith at Amazing Grace Church in Denver, Colorado where she was a member for almost 30 years. She served the church throughout the years as a Sunday School teacher, Bus Ministry Leader, Choir Member and Prayer Chain Member, and cook at Bible Camp
For almost 20 years she regularly attended Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church in North Lauderdale, FL. Every Sunday you would see Celeste and her Beloved Son in Law David Miller in church. David and "Grannie" were quite a sight that had a wonderful and profound effect on all those that had contact with them.
The family is so thankful for David for helping continue her spiritual journey to the end of her life, she always loved the Catholic Church and spoke of some of her early spiritual experiences at a Catholic church in Gill, CO, so it is no surprise that she found comfort in the Catholic Church.
Celeste was a devoted mother, always having her children involved in sports, music, church, Summer Bible Camps. She always made their days were filled with activities, chores and school.
She was also a HUGE sports fan, Denver Broncos, Colorado Avalanche, Colorado Rockies, Miami Heat, Miami Marlins, Florida Panthers. She loved sports! She wasn't just a casual fan, she knew their names, stats, loved attending the games and she probably believed she was responsible for every win and championship.
Celeste loved gardening, she could plant anything and make it grow like her avocado tree and pineapple plant, it was more than a hobby for her, it was her passion.
Dina took great pride in the military service of her Children and Grandchildren who served in the United States Marines, United States Army, United States Air Force and United States Navy.
Family was always important to her and she loved and cared for those on the Gomez and the Minjarez family.
She was a friend to all, loved her Savior, Loved her children, Loved her family.
After a long battle to overcome the effect of diabetes, she had a kidney transplant, had a finger amputated and finally her legs amputated, she went to be with her Lord in the quiet of the night, after seeing her family throughout the month of May and June on June 11, 2017
Now she dances in celebration of a new and eternal life.
