Barbara Fordham Glymph, a beloved resident of South Florida, passed away on November 14, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, dedication, and a lifetime of cherished memories. Born on September 10, 1946, in Winter Haven, FL, Barbara was the daughter of William and Leugenia Fordham.
Barbara's formative years were spent in the vibrant city of Tampa, where she developed a deep appreciation for community and education. Her passion for learning led her to Paine College, where she graduated in 1968 earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education, laying the foundation for a lifetime devoted to nurturing young minds. She furthered her academic journey at Florida Atlantic University, earning a Master of Education degree in 1976 that enhanced her skills and commitment to the field of education.
Barbara then moved to Fort Lauderdale where she planted her roots and became an integral part of the community. Throughout her 38 year career she touched the lives of countless students, colleagues, and families with her unwavering dedication to education. Barbara's impact as an educator extended far beyond the classroom, inspiring a love for learning that would last a lifetime.
Barbara's warm heart, kindness, and generous spirit endeared her to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Barbara was a tireless and devoted member of First Baptist Church Piney Grove for nearly 35 years where, serving on the Usher Board and in Circle Lydia. Forever connected to her passion for children's minds and souls, Barbara spent several years in the Piney Grove nursery caring for youth as their parents worshipped.
Barbara was a loving daughter, sister, and friend. Barbara was the oldest of three girls, Cheryl Whitmore (who preceded her in death) and youngest sister Miriam Fordham. She is survived by her two loving sons, Durone (Chattorria) and Tarik Glymph, two grandchildren, Tiffany and Devin, whom she absolutely adored and cherished, two nieces, Sadie and Artheria, whom she loved greatly, along with a host of loving family members and a community of friends who mourn the loss of a remarkable woman. Barbara's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have shared in her life's journey. Barbara's legacy of love and compassion will be remembered by those she leaves behind.
This service marks a celebration of life for Barbara Fordham Glymph, where friends and family will honor her memory and share stories of the impact she had on their lives. May Barbara Fordham Glymph rest in eternal peace; her spirit forever remembered and her influence enduring in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Visitation is scheduled for Friday, November 24, 2023 from 5:30-7:00PM at Coral Springs Funeral Home 1420 N. University Drive, Coral Springs, FL 33071
