Barbara Dodd, 95, of Coral Springs, FL passed away on December 10, 2015. Born on November 17, 1920 in Babylon, NY to Harry and Mabel Abrams. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Dave) Merritt; and grandchildren, Danielle (Tim) Welbes, Aimee (Timmy) McCutcheon, David (Melissa) Merritt, Alex (Annette) Hogan, Dawn Coy, Bobby Jo (Greg) Sherman, and Robbie (Angie) Buckley. Her great grandchildren, Bronson Welbes, Nya McCutcheon, Celeste Merritt, Adam and Ashley Hogan, Frank and Cheyenne Coy, Kaden, Phillip, and Austyn Sherman, and Christopher and Tyra Buckley; and her great great grandchildren, Keira, Gavin, and Gracie. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Diane Buckley, and her foster son, Danny Dodd.
Barbara dedicated her life to raising children, especially those in need. As a licensed caretaker, she fostered over 100 children- adopting several of them over the years. Her famed nickname is "Grammy" as she held that role in the eyes of so many. Barbara was a devout SDA, and fulfilled her missionary work by composing and sending 6-8 letters per week to shut-ins and families in need.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, December 14, 2015 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Coral Springs Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at Coral Springs Funeral Home with burial to follow at Lauderdale Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Building Fund at Life Fellowship SDA Church.
