Aura Maria Garcia Tolosa, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and woman of faith, entered eternal rest at the age of 91 on her birthday, January 3, 2026. Her life was anchored by unwavering love for her family, prayer, and service.

Born and raised in Bogotá, Colombia, Aura bravely moved with her first three toddlers to Queens, New York, where she lovingly raised six children. She had a natural sense of style, delighting in being well put together and ensuring her children looked just as cared for. Through life's challenges, Aura faced each day with determination and a good sense of humor. She loved to dance and took pride in creating a warm, welcoming home where cookies were always on hand, tea was served just right, and every space was thoughtfully adorned. She also had a green thumb and enjoyed caring for her plants with the same nurturing spirit she gave her family.

Aura went the extra mile to celebrate her loved ones, from timely birthday cards to thoughtful gifts for every milestone. Some of her most cherished moments were spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sharing stories, playing dominoes, and filling the room with laughter.

She opened her arms and her home to many, offering guidance, comfort, and support. Her faith was not only spoken but lived daily.  Aura's main passion was evangelism, sharing the good news of Jesus Christ to everyone she met. She found joy in worship,  and was an active presence in her church, where she loved to play the tambourine. Aura also served in her independent living building community to welcome new residents.
Aura is survived by her children, Nora (Washington) Cabezas, Carlos A. (Martha) Garcia, Dora Patricia Garcia, Ismael Alonzo Garcia, and Ricardo (Julissa) Garcia; and her grandchildren, Teresa (Edward) Nodal, Joshua Sadler (Ashley), Robert Garcia (Myra), Lina-Maria Garcia, Daniella Cabezas, Shylene (Johanel), Lilliana Garcia, Ricardo Rey Garcia, Giovanni Garcia, and Joel Garcia; along with six beloved great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Julio, Clara, Rosa, Margarita, and Hernando, and extended family in Colombia and throughout the United States.  She was preceded in death by her son, William Garcia, who passed away in 2001.

Aura's vibrant, selfless, stylish, and devoted spirit touched all who knew her, and her legacy will continue through the generations she nurtured so deeply.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 13: Visitation 11am - 1pm and graveside service at 2pm at Lauderdale Memorial Park, 2001 SW 4th Ave, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33315. Aura María Tolosa Garcia, amorosa madre, abuelita, bisabuela y mujer de fe, entró en el descanso eterno a la edad de 91 años el día de su cumpleaños, el 3 de enero de 2026. Su vida estuvo anclada en un amor inquebrantable por su familia, la oración y el servicio.

Nacida y criada en Bogotá, Colombia, Aura se trasladó a Queens, Nueva York, con su esposo y sus tres pequeños hijos y donde nacieron tres hijos más. Siempre se distinguió por vestir con cuidado y buen gusto, asegurándose de que sus hijos lucieran igualmente cuidados. A través de los desafíos de la vida, Aura enfrentó cada día con determinación y un buen sentido del humor. Amaba bailar y de crear un hogar cálido y acogedor, donde disfrutaba atender bien a su familia y todo el que llegara. También tenía una gran habilidad para las plantas y disfrutaba cuidarlas con el mismo espíritu protector con el que cuidó a su familia.

Aura siempre hacía un esfuerzo especial para celebrar a sus seres queridos en toda ocasión. Algunos de sus recuerdos más preciados los vivió junto a sus nietos y bisnietos, compartiendo historias y juegos. Era muy divertida.

Desde que Aura conoció del Señor, abrió su hogar a muchos, ofreciendo guía, consuelo, apoyo. Su fe también se reflejaba en su vida de oración y su deseo constante de evangelizar Encontraba gozo en la adoración y fue una presencia activa en su iglesia, donde le encantaba tocar la pandereta. Aura también sirvió a su comunidad en el edificio de vivienda independiente donde residía, dando la bienvenida a los nuevos residentes.

Aura deja en vida a sus hijos: Nora (Washington) Cabezas dos nietos, 2 bisnietos, Carlos (Martha) Garcia dos nietas, Dora Patricia Garcia, un nieto , dos bisnietos, Ismael Alonzo Garcia,  un nieto, y Ricardo (Julissa) Garcia, 4 nietos 2 bisnietos, sus hermanos Julio, Clara, Rosa, Margarita y Hernando, así como familiares extendidos en Colombia y en distintas partes de los Estados Unidos. Le precedió en la muerte su hijo William Garcia, quien falleció en el año 2001.

El espíritu vibrante, generoso, y lleno de devoción de Aura tocó la vida de todos quienes la conocieron, y su legado continuará vivo a través de las generaciones que cuidó con tanto amor.

Los servicios funerarios se llevarán a cabo el martes 13 de enero: velación de 11:30 a.m. a 1:00 p.m., seguida del servicio en el cementerio a las 2:00 p.m. en Lauderdale Memorial Park, ubicado en 2001 SW 4th Ave, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33315.
