Obituary

On January 1, 2014, our beloved Augustin "Drew" Colvin - or Drewski as many of us knew him - passed away peacefully at the age of 54. Drew was a truly special person: brave, energetic, caring, spiritual, creative, and bold. He was a renaissance man and free spirit who loved new challenges - particularly those that allowed him to channel his passion for art and music. He had an enormous heart and a sharp sense of humor, and although his particular brand of comedic styling was often blue, he also loved the classics: tuxedo t-shirts, bunny ears in photos, jokes about farts, and the occasional bawdy drag revue. He had a special affinity for animals: he was strong as an ox, stubborn as a mule, and once owned a pot-bellied pig he named Hamlet. But Drew was also a people person. He was gay and proud, and his family was proud of him too. He was dashingly handsome and disarmingly eloquent, and he used his voice to show his love for those around him. Even in his last year, as sickness attacked his body, his voice remained powerful. With it he eulogized his father, married his niece to her long-time love, and brought much joy to the devoted following he had earned as the host of his own Internet radio show. His family - including his mother Mary; siblings Walter, Mike, Patricia, Donna, and Pamela; and his many nieces and nephews who all affectionately referred to him as "Uncle Drew" - will miss him dearly. He left us too soon, and we are all less without him, but so much more for having known him. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you please make a donation in his name to the Big Dog Rescue Ranch via .
