Obituary

Anthony "Tony" Grima

Anthony "Tony" Grima, 84, of Coral Springs, Florida passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, surrounded by his wife and daughter.

Tony was preceded in death by his parents, sister Theresa, and son Anthony (1977-2022). He is survived by his wife Maude, daughter Andrea, and sister Patricia.

Tony was born April 30, 1941 in Bronx, NY to Anthony and Amelia Grima. He graduated from Highland High School then SUNY at Farmingdale where he earned a degree in applied science majoring in electronics technology. At 20, Tony entered the Unites States Air Force, where he was stationed in Orlando, FL. During his four years in the Air Force, he proudly served working on computer-guided missiles. Upon completion of service, Tony returned to NY and began a career with IBM as a computer engineer working out of the Poughkeepsie plant. He worked for IBM for over thirty years, rising to the level of upper management. Most notably, Tony was part of a small autonomous team working out of IBM's Boca Raton, FL location under the direction of Don Estridge. This team ultimately invented the personal computer.

Having a love for music, Tony was taught guitar in high school by good friend Lenny Frank Ciaccio. He played in various bands throughout college and USAF service. When he returned to NY, he joined Lenny's band Lenny Frank & The Rhythm Rockers. The band was a scene favorite in Hudson Valley and Tony played lead guitar for nine years. Tony also loved to fly, obtaining his pilot's license and flying recreationally for many years. Later hobbies included cooking and home renovation projects.

Tony met Maude in Poughkeepsie, NY in 1967 while she was babysitting for his niece. They dated for roughly two years before marrying in 1969. They had two children and raised them in Wappinger Falls, NY until relocating to Coral Springs, FL in 1982. Tony was a loving and devoted husband to Maude and an extraordinary father to Andrea and Anthony. He was kind, generous, and had a wonderful sense of humor. Notably, Tony excelled at managing the challenges that came with raising a child with special needs. He was deeply loved and will be missed greatly.

In keeping with his wishes, there will be no service. Maude and Andrea thank you for your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. We also extend our heartfelt thanks to the nurses of Trustbridge Hospice for their dedicated and compassionate care over the final weeks of Tony's life. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Tony' name to Trustbridge Hospice.
